Residents of the Mission at the Cross receive extensive vocational training at no cost to them which offers a wide range of valuable benefits. Most importantly, the vocational training received helps restore the self worth that is often lacking in the men that we serve. Vocational training in small and medium size engine mechanics, operation of a maintenance shop, inventory stocking and replenishment and customer service techniques are taught. This intensive, daily training provides our men, who most often arrive at Mission at the Cross unemployed, with a means of which to become self-sufficient while helping provide for the operational expenses of Mission at the Cross through the repair and sale of motorcycles and related parts, supplies and equipment. In addition, we are in the process of partnering with a local community college to provide free vocational training in electrical circuits, hydraulics and adult basic education leading to earning a GED. Our focus is to help the homeless and addicted to regain the ability to function as a productive member of society, be able to become self-supportive and to be able to transition from residing at Mission at the Cross to living in a home or apartment of their own. We firmly believe that vocational training coupled with a loving and supportive Christian environment can help these men find purpose in their lives. Our staff has resolved to be Christian examples and to provide intensive vocational training so that we may have an impact and make a difference in the lives of the men to whom we provide care.

In addition to the motorcycle mechanic training provided to the men who reside at Mission At The Cross, vocational training in carpentry, masonry, electrical, roofing, plumbing, landscaping, painting, t-shirt imprinting, sheet metal forming and manufacturing, welding, retail, inventory, sales, customer service, and industrial machinery operation is available. By providing this vocational training, our residents become better equipped to obtain full-time employment and become self-sufficient. All training is supervised by qualified Mission At The Cross personnel, skilled volunteers and local businesses and industry. Our goal is to help men become whole again in body, mind and spirit. A necessary part of that goal is to provide the workforce skills that will make our residents attractive potential employees to a business looking to hire a new worker. We reside in the knowledge that we are the hands and feet of Jesus and through the application of biblical principles, we can change lives and outcomes for the betterment of the individual, the family and the community.
